Tarig Magdeldin, PhD

Senior Consultant, London

Tarig is a Senior Consultant with experience in competitive strategy, lifecycle management, opportunity and threat assessment, and portfolio management. Since joining Deallus, Tarig has successfully managed and delivered a wide range of engagements for top tier pharmaceutical clients across various therapeutic areas including oncology, immunology and neuroscience. He has helped clients develop their global strategic initiatives in different oncology indications including prostate, breast and gynaecological cancers through all stages of the lifecycle portfolio. He draws upon his deep technical knowledge to position his teams as valuable thought partners to distil the ‘so what’ for clients.

Why did you join Deallus?

Initially, it was the size of the company that influenced my decision to apply for a role at Deallus. The company was also in an exciting place in its growth and I felt this would both present a lot of opportunities for both personal and professional development. The flat structure is also something that I find incredibly valuable as it creates a very friendly and supportive work environment across all levels of the organization.

What do you bring to Deallus and clients that is unique?

I bring a strong technical and scientific understanding to the company and the ability to help clients make sense of some of their more technical challenges – more broadly, the strategic implications it will have on their business. Other key elements I believe are attention to detail and motivating my teams to complement each other’s strengths and qualities to bring out the best result for both our clients and the teams overall growth.

Life outside of work

I am on a never-ending quest to find the perfect pint of Guinness in London – I also spend a lot of time with friends eating out and socializing. Outside of that, I’m a massive sports fan and will watch just about any competitive sport. But the ones that stand out the most are football, rugby and mixed martial arts! I do like to exercise and push myself out of my comfort zone – whether that’s the gym or running.

How is COVID-19 impacting clinical trials?

As the impact of COVID-19 pandemic continues to expand globally, pharmaceutical and biotech players are beginning to feel the disruptive effects of the outbreak. New clinical trials will be significantly delayed as companies continue to face challenges arising from COVID-19, from potential patient quarantines, to site closures, travel limitations or interruptions to the supply chain for new investigational products.
